Biography

Professor Gilman Kit-hang SIU is a Professor in the Department of Health Technology and Informatics at PolyU and Programme Leader of Master of Medical Laboratory Science. He earned his PhD from HKU (2011) and holds Fellowships from the Royal College of Pathologists (UK) and Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. His research spans tuberculosis, molecular epidemiology, infection control, and antimicrobial resistance. Renowned for his rapid sequencing techniques that traced COVID-19 transmission chains in Hong Kong, Prof. SIU has published over 80 papers, secured 26 competitive grants, and received the Limin Endowed Young Scholar title and Outstanding PolyU Young Alumni Award.
