Biography

Xiangyu Zhao is an Associate Professor at City University of Hong Kong, specialising in data mining, machine learning, recommendation systems, urban computing and healthcare. He has published over 200 papers, received more than 15,000 citations, and holds an h-index of 67. His honours include four best paper awards or nominations, the Global Chinese AI Rising Star Award, a NeurIPS championship, and a KDD Cup runner-up award. He has led RGC Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) and Research Impact Fund (RIF) projects, as well as 20 industry collaborations. Twenty of his algorithms have been deployed in companies and healthcare institutions, reaching one billion devices and 100 million daily users, generating over RMB 10 billion in value and saving 75 million kWh annually. His system, PromptX, serves 50 companies across six industries.
